T is for Take That

Artist: Take That

Song: Rule The World

Album: Everything Changes & Progress

Watched Perform: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015

I first became aware of Take That in 1992, when they released a cover of Barry Manilow’s ‘Could It Be Magic‘ and from that moment I fell in love! I watched all of their TV appearances, bought all of the merchandise (posters, bedding, dolls, perfume… you name it, I had it!) and at least once a week my best friend would come over and watch their concerts with me. These days I just collect the singles and albums, which I’m sure my husband is very thankful for!

When they broke up in 1996, I continued to follow Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen’s solo careers, always wishing that one day that would reunite. As the years went by and Robbie became more and more successful and the others faded into the background I accepted that it would probably never happen… until one day in 2006 they announced they were getting back together (minus Robbie), I was absolutely ecstatic!

I used to run a successful fansite for Gary until he finally got his own official website and during that time I was able to meet Gary and the rest of the guys several times. Take That were always hugely successful here in the UK back in the 90’s, but since coming back that popularity has absolutely sky-rocketed and their tickets sell out in minutes… luckily I’ve not missed a tour yet! I’ve also seen the unofficial musical ‘Never Forget‘ several times and have tickets to see the official musical ‘The Band‘ next year, which I’m looking forward to.

Robbie finally rejoined the band in 2010 and it was an absolute dream come true for me to see all of them performing together again. I have two favourite albums, the first is ‘Everything Changes’ from the 90’s era and the second is ‘Progress’ from the new era, they’re both wildly different but fantastic in their own way. My favourite song changes from week to week, but at the moment it’s ‘Rule The World’ from the film ‘Stardust’.

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 23rd April 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster and hosted by Emily at Nerd in the Brain.

If we were having coffee today, you would be joining my husband and I at the lovely Dalemain Mansion. We’re taking part in Drive it Day today and have met up with the other participants at the stately home which is famous for it’s marmalade. You really must try some before you leave, it’s delicious!

How has your week been? I have been working on a few craft projects, including some postage stamp découpage. I’m undecided as to which varnish to use however, do you have any suggestions? Something that brings out the vibrant colours of the stamps would be ideal.

The rest of my week has been spent writing as I was determined to have all my A to Z posts scheduled by the end of Friday. Now that I don’t have to worry about those (all that’s left is the reflection post) I can concentrate on visiting everyone’s blogs and commenting. I have to admit I’ve found it much harder to keep track of who I’ve visited this year without the Linky List.

Thank you for joining me for this Coffee Share, I hope you enjoyed your marmalade! I hope you have a great week ahead. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up.

S is for Simply Red

Artist: Simply Red

Song: Holding Back The Years

Album: A New Flame/Stars

Watched Perform: 2009, 2015

Simply Red are another band that I grew up with, their songs were always playing in our house when I was younger. They always put on a great show and I have lots of great memories of singing along to them in the car with my mum.

It’s impossible for me to pick a favourite album because I love ‘A New Flame’ and ‘Stars’ equally, there’s just so many tracks I love between them! My favourite song will always be ‘Holding Back The Years’ though.

R is for Robbie Williams

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Robbie Williams

Song: Rock DJ*

Album: Sing When You’re Winning

Watched Perform: 2003, 2014

I’ve loved Robbie ever since his early days in Take That and after he left the group I continued to follow his solo career. He’s released some great albums over the years (and some terrible ones) but my favourite one is still ‘Sing When You’re Winning’ which has some fantastic tunes on it, including ‘Rock DJ’ which I instantly loved and has remained my favourite song ever since.

*I’ve chosen to put a different version of the video on here, as the official video is very graphic and not to everyone’s taste! If you want to watch it however, click here.

One of the most amazing concerts I have ever been to was Robbie’s ‘Live at Knebworth’ tour in 2003, it had an atmosphere which was just indescribable and had crowds of over 375,000. It’s known as one of the biggest music events in UK history and being part of it was really something special!

Shiny – I cannot stop singing this from ‘Moana’, my sister and I have had it stuck in our heads ever since we watched it at the weekend and it keeps making us laugh whenever we see it.

Q is for Queen

Artist: Queen

Song: Don’t Stop Me Now

Album: A Kind of Magic

I think Queen are a wonderfully talented group. They’ve made so many fantastic songs from melancholic ballads to upbeat pure pop that it’s incredibly hard to pick a favourite, but it’s impossible for me to play ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and not dance!

I would love to see them perform but sadly the opportunity hasn’t come up yet. I have seen ‘We Will Rock You‘ several times though and ‘Flash Gordon‘ is one of my all time favourite films.

P is for Paul McCartney

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Paul McCartney

Song: Silly Love Songs

Album: Band on the Run

Watched Perform: 2003, 2008

I’m a huge Beatles fan and my favourite member is Paul, I think his lyrics are wonderful and I’m so fortunate that I have been able to see him perform several times. A highlight for me in 2014 was visiting 20 Forthlin Road, his childhood home.

I grew up with his music and had a phase of watching ‘Yellow Submarine‘ every single day when I was little. My favourite song is ‘Silly Love Songs’ because it’s so upbeat and I love the bass throughout.

It’s hard to pick an album but ‘Band on the Run’ is one of my favourites as it has ‘Jet’, ‘Bluebird’ and ‘Let Me Roll It’ on it (as well as the title track of course) all of which are fantastic songs.

O is for Oasis

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Oasis

Song: Some Might Say

Album: (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

My husband is the real Oasis fan in our house (I was more of a Blur fan back in the day) but as Britpop bands go they are one of my favourites. I particularly like their guitar riffs and my favourite song is ‘Some Might Say’ for that reason.

N is for No Doubt

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: No Doubt

Song: Don’t Speak

Album: The Singles: 1992-2003

I used to listen to No Doubt a lot when I was a teenager, their songs are great to sing along to when you’re feeling angry or upset… which is how you feel most of the time when you’re that age!

I love Gwen Stefani’s voice and I love her solo work, but my favourite tracks will always be the ones she sung with No Doubt, especially ‘Don’t Speak’ which perfectly describes how I felt over a broken relationship at the time.

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 16th April 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster and hosted by Emily at Nerd in the Brain.

If we were having coffee today, you would be joining my family for Easter lunch. There’s plenty of chocolate to go around so feel free to take some. With mum’s moving date creeping ever closer, we’re down to the basics here so the crockery is becoming scarce… grab a cup whilst you can!

How have you been this week? I had a lovely day with my sister yesterday, one of my favourite shops; Vintage Home, has moved to a bigger site and had an open day with free drinks, nibbles and workshop demonstrations. Crafty Badger Ceramics who have also moved to the same site let us have a go at making our own clay ornaments which will be glazed and ready to collect in a week or so… I can’t wait to see the end result!

We also watched Moana the other night and really enjoyed it, especially Tamatoa the crab. We’ve been singing ‘Shiny‘ ever since… it really gets stuck in your head! I loved the references to the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Frozen (plus the rest) throughout the film. Have you watched a good film recently? Which releases are you looking forward to?

Thank you for joining me for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a lovely week. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up.
