#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 19th February 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster and hosted by Emily at Nerd in the Brain.

If we were having coffee today you would  be joining my husband and I at Stoneleigh Park for the International MG and Triumph Spares Day. It’s very busy here so I’m afraid we’ll have to queue for a while!

How has this week been for you? Did you have a nice Valentine’s Day? My husband and I went out for a gorgeous meal at one of my favourite pubs which made for a lovely evening.

It’s been a rather quiet week for me, unfortunately the weather still isn’t good enough to get started on the garden so I have been working on a few little craft projects instead.

I’ve got an incredibly busy week ahead of me (my mum is moving house and I’m going back home to help with the packing) and a long train journey tomorrow morning, so it will be an early night for me I think! What are your plans for this upcoming week?

Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a great week. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

If we were having coffee today you would be joining my husband and I in Shepton Mallet. We had a lovely day yesterday seeing the sights in Bristol (such as the The Clifton Suspension Bridge and the SS Great Britain) and today we’re at the Great Western Classic Car Show, which is a new event for us.

So how has life treated you since we last spoke? I’ve been adding the final touches to the house now that everything is sorted. I’m looking forward to the weather getting warmer and drier so  I can get started on the garden… I’m a total novice when it comes to gardening but I’ll give it my best shot! The first thing I need to do is reclaim the flowerbeds.

With all the cleaning that’s been going on I just haven’t had the energy to sit down and write properly for a while. I feel bad for neglecting my blog and I really want to get back into a proper posting routine, especially before the A-Z Challenge comes back around! There are one or two trips I would’ve liked to add to the ‘Places I’ve Been‘, but I feel it’s been left a little too long for me to write about them now.

Also with ‘Torque Shows‘ I’ve decided to only write about new car shows I’ve been to (unless they have changed significantly since the last time I went) as they are pretty much the same each year… that doesn’t make them bad events but there’s only so much you can write about if nothing ever changes! Are there changes you’d like to make with your blog? Do you find it hard to stick to a posting schedule?

I saw T2 Trainspotting on Thursday which was brilliant, it’s been ages since I saw a film in the cinema which was decent so that, combined with the luxurious new seats (leather with electric foot and back rests) almost made up for the ticket price! I know I’ve said it before, but ticket prices are SO expensive these days! It really puts me off going to the cinema which is a shame as I used to go several times a month. Do you go to watch films regularly or do you wait until they’re on DVD/Netflix? Is there a franchise that you will always pay to see no matter what?

If we were having coffee today I would ask if you have any plans for Valentine’s Day? We’re going out for a meal which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve only celebrated it for the past three years, so it’s still rather novel to me but I know some people hate it.

Well I guess I’ve rambled enough! Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a lovely week ahead whatever your plans are. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 5th February 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster.

So how has this week been for you? I’m absolutely exhausted after spending the week working on the GBHC. My hands are so sore and my back isn’t much better… but the good news is that aside from the garden shed (because I might as well sort that out seeing as I’ve done so much already) I’m pretty much finished.

There’s just a few bits left for me to clean and a few minor repairs to be made, then the ENTIRE house (every single room, drawer, cupboard and shelf, including the loft and carport) will have been organised and cleaned! We have much more space now, it’s wonderful and feels so much more relaxing. It’s also given me lots of inspiration for future projects and design ideas I’d like to try, I can’t wait to get started on them.

So now the house is (almost) done, I guess I need to start working on the garden… after a long rest that is! If we were having coffee I would ask you what’s your favourite room in your house and why? Also, do you have any particular ornaments or pictures you’re especially fond of? How do you like to display them?

Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a lovely week. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

VSCC New Year Driving Tests

Event: The Vintage Sports-Car Club New Year Driving Tests
Date: 29.01.2017
Location: Brooklands Museum, Weybridge (Directions)
Admission: £30 Family, £11 Adult, £10 Student, £10 Senior Citizen, £6 Child (Under 5’s go free)
Facilities: Tea & CoffeeFoodToiletsPlay Area
Website: Brooklands Museum

The VSCC New Year Driving Tests offered something different at Brooklands today. Instead of the usual display of cars, the pre-war vehicles taking part had to complete a series of complicated courses that were laid out across the museum grounds in the quickest time possible.

It’s really quite something to watch these 1920’s and 30’s cars speeding around tight circuits and tackling the Test Hill. The wonderful thing I find with VSCC events is just how much the drivers enjoy themselves and they’re not at all afraid of getting their cars muddy or pushing them to the limit… it makes for some great spectator viewing!

I’m looking forward to going to more VSCC events in the future, if this and the Lakeland Trial are anything to go by they’re certain to be a great day out.

Keep an eye out for the the full report in Classic Car Weekly

If we were having coffee today you would be joining my husband and I at Brooklands Museum to watch the VSCC Driving Tests. They have some lovely cakes in the Sunbeam Café so why not treat yourself?

My apologies for missing the coffee share last weekend, but it was the anniversary of my dad’s passing and I didn’t feel very much like socialising or writing for that matter. It’s been 16 years since we lost him, but the pain is just as strong as ever… I think it always will be.

We went to Hunstanton the other day, which was really quite sunny despite it being the middle of January. It was smaller than I expected and not like the seaside towns I’m used to but it is a lovely place. Listening to the sea helped me to feel a little more at peace… when I used to live at home the beach was only five minutes away, but where we live now it takes over an hour and a half to get to. I do miss it a lot, especially at this time of year.

So how have the past two weeks been for you? I’m really proud of all the hard work I’ve done on the GBHC so far… I’ve got a bit left to do in the lounge and then there’s just the bathroom and kitchen to deal with. I’m dreading the kitchen the most as I know it will take the longest with all of the cupboards and cookware we have, so I’ve been building up to it. It’s great having everything organised though, it makes daily tasks so much easier and we finally have space for some lovely new things.

Well I guess I should be getting back to the show! Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a nice week ahead. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 15th January 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster.

If we were having coffee today I would invite you in from the cold dreary weather for a nice hot cup of tea, a Beanies coffee or a hot chocolate, which will it be?

So how has your week been? The Great Big House Clear Out (GBHC) as I’m now calling it is going slowly but I’m making progress. I’ve concentrated on the craft room this week and sorted through all 15 drawers of my supplies. I managed to cut my collection by a considerable amount but there’s still the big sewing box to sort through, which will be a challenge as I love all of my threads and fabrics! I’m trying to donate as many things as possible during this GBHC so at least I know everything be going towards a good cause.

If we were having coffee I would ask which is your preferred website for selling things? my default is eBay (and on a rare occasion Amazon) but their fees seem to get higher each time and take such a large percentage that it doesn’t seem worth using them these days. I’ve never had much luck with small ads either, do you have any suggestions?

Well I suppose I should start getting things ready for dinner tonight. I’m making a home-made steak and ale pie for the first time… I really hope it doesn’t go wrong else I foresee a pizza delivery being made! Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a great week. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 8th January 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster.

If we were having coffee today you would be joining me in a very foggy Llandudno as my husband and I are currently taking part in the Wirral To Llandudno Run. Despite the milder weather this year it can be very cold on top of the Great Orme, so please do get yourself a tea or a coffee as it will help warm your hands!

So how has the first week of 2017 gone for you so far? Mine was spent taking the Christmas decorations down and starting the mammoth task of going through every room in our house and de-cluttering as much as possible. It’s a long and exhausting process but it will be worth it once it’s done!

I’ve also been keeping my ‘Thought a Day’ diary up-to-date so far, but it’s harder than I expected. You’d think such a simple thing would be easy to do but it’s not easy putting all of your feelings into one condensed sentence sometimes! Have you ever tried something similar? Did you manage to stick with it?

Well it looks like we’re about to set off again so I’d best be going! Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a lovely week ahead. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster.

If we were having coffee today I would wish you a very happy New Year! I hope you have a fabulous year ahead of you and achieve your goals, however big or small they are. How were your celebrations? Did you have a big night out or did you stay at home? My husband and I went for a meal earlier in the evening and then came home to watch the fireworks and countdown on TV.

Did you have a good Christmas? We’ve had a busy week visiting friends and spending time with family, including a visit to Blackpool Zoo with one of our nephews… it was a cold but lovely day out. This morning we went to a classic car meet at the Corner House and have spent the rest of the day catching up with our favourite TV shows.

If we were having coffee today I would ask if you’ve made any resolutions for this year? Every New Year’s Eve my husband writes down goals we’d like to achieve by the end of the year and we read last years list to see how many we’ve managed so far. I’m also trying something new this year… I bought a ‘Thought a Day’ book which I hope I will remember to write in every day!

2016 was a difficult year for everyone, with the loss of so many wonderful people, thankfully our wedding and the birth of our niece provided some much needed joy to our year… something which I hope will continue throughout 2017. We (hopefully) have some big changes in store this year, which I’m REALLY looking forward to! How about yourself?

Thank you for joining for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a great week and don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up!

Rest in Peace George Michael

I am in total shock over the news of George Michael… I cannot believe he’s gone. I wouldn’t usually write about my feelings when a celebrity dies, but this has left me heartbroken.

George’s songs have been the soundtrack to my entire life and mean the world to me. Music is incredibly important to me and George’s lyrics have helped me to cope with some of the toughest times of my life… and the best… so many memories have involved his music and I just can’t believe he will never sing another.

I’m SO grateful to have seen him perform live several times, he was an absolutely phenomenal singer. His voice was like nothing I’d heard live… it’s not often someone sounds even better live than they do on a studio album, but George did.

Apologies for my rambling, but I can’t stop my tears as I type… there is so much I want to say, but I simply don’t have the words. Rest in Peace George, your songs will always be a part of me.

“Please be stronger than your past, the future may still give you a chance” – Cowboys and Angels

“Take my dreams, childish and weak at the seams. Please don’t analyse, please just be there for me” – The Strangest Thing

“If I was weak, forgive me, but I was terrified. You brushed my eyes with angels wings, full of love, the kind that makes devils cry” – You Have Been Loved
