Round the Bend was a somewhat bizarre TV show, which for a long time I thought I had imagined as no one else I spoke to could remember it/had seen it! I remember being simultaneously scared and amused by it when I was little. Re-watching it again as an adult, I can see why!

Number One

Cassette Converter – My husband bought me this wonderful gadget for my birthday. One of my most precious possessions is a cassette tape my dad recorded in 1990 and is one of the few items I have left to remember him by. I was worried about what would happen if it was ever damaged so I have rarely played it, but now it’s been converted to MP3 I can listen to it as often as I like!

Number Two

Viking: Rediscover the Legend
Viking : Rediscover the Legend – We had a lovely family day out to The Atkinson at the weekend to see the Viking exhibition. It was full of beautiful artefacts and fascinating local history, well worth a visit (and the money) if you’re in the area!

Number Three

Fresh Flowers – There’s nothing like a bunch of fresh flowers to brighten up a grey morning! This week we have these lovely tulips which I bought from the local market.

Another favourite toy of mine was Quints. I’m pretty sure I had the entire collection, but the one I played with the most was the house, I loved the way it opened up into five different rooms and could be folded up again and carried. Another toy I wish I’d kept hold of!

I love, love, LOVE Polly Pocket! I’m gutted that I no longer have my collection, but I do still have the Funtime Clock on my bedside table! It’s so hard to pick a favourite compact, but the ones that I remember the most fondly are the Jeweled, Enchanted Storybooks and Polly’s Dream World.

N is for N64 #AtoZChallenge

The first time I ever played an N64 game was at my friends house, it was ‘Diddy Kong Racing‘ and it blew my mind! I’d never seen anything like it before and thought the graphics were amazing! After many months of saving (and playing at my friends house) I finally bought the GoldenEye 007 edition of the console, which has been set up on every TV I’ve owned ever since.

The game that I fell in love with however, was Banjo-Kazooie. The box caught my eye whilst I was in Woolworths after school one day so I saved up, and from the moment I brought it home I was hooked! I still play it regularly and listen to the soundtrack 20 years later. Despite owning most of Nintendo’s consoles since then, none of them seem to have captured my imagination quite like the N64 did.

One of the first books I learnt to read was Meg and Mog, which I suspect was the start of my love for books such as The Worst Witch, The Poundsbridge Witch, Harry Potter and all the ones in-between! The stories I remember the most vividly are ‘Meg on the Moon’ and ‘Meg’s Eggs’

Lite-Brite was one of my absolute favourite toys! I’ve always had an obsession with things that are colour-changing or glow in the dark, so this toy was a dream come true! I still have mine, but I’ve yet to find anywhere that still sells the batteries for it which I’m gutted about, I would love to get it working again!

Number One

New Bed – After months of sleeping on a mattress on the floor and a broken bed that was (barely) held together by tape, it is SO GOOD to finally have a brand new bed! It’s only been two nights and my back feels 100x better already!

Number Two
3TT2.12.04.18
Post Box Birdhouse – My sister bought me this gorgeous birdhouse for Christmas, which I’ve been able to put on our wall at long last. It makes me smile every time I walk past it

Number Three
3TT3.12.04.18
Frogs – I love frogs, so I was delighted to discover we have several who come and visit our garden!

K is for Keypers #AtoZChallenge

Keypers were cute animals that usually came in pastel colours, with a compartment that you could hide things in and lock them away. I had the swan, snail and horse as well as a few of the “baby” versions, but my favourite was the swan which I think was called Princess?
