M is for Madonna

Artist: Madonna

Song: Material Girl

Album: The Immaculate Collection

Madonna has reinvented herself so many times over the years, and I have liked most of her styles and songs but I like 80s Madonna most of all. She’s released some fantastic songs but my favourite is ‘Material Girl’ because it’s so much fun to sing along to.

I also think she did a great job with ‘Evita’ and in my opinion it’s probably the best thing she’s done in her career so far, but then again I am a huge fan of musicals. I would love to see her in concert but unfortunately her tickets have always been way out of my price range… maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to win a ticket!

L is for The Lightning Seeds

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: The Lightning Seeds

Song: Pure

Album: Dizzy Heights

The Lightning Seeds were formed in ’89 but I didn’t actually discover them until ’96 when they released one of the greatest Football songs England’s ever had – ‘Three Lions’, everyone I know, football fan or not, can’t help singing along when it comes on!

They’ve had some great singles over the years with tracks like ‘Marvellous’ and ‘The Life Of Riley’ but the song that will always be special to me is ‘Pure’… an ex boyfriend of mine claimed it summed up how he felt about me and although things didn’t end well between us, it still makes me smile when I hear it.

#ThreeThingsThursday – What made me smile this week…

Welcome to this week’s Three Things Thursday post, hosted by Nerd in the Brain. Share your happy by posting three things (big or small) that have made you smile this week and join the fun!

Number One
3TT3.13.04.17
Our Weekend Away – My husband and I had such a perfect weekend in Wales, soaking up the sunshine. It was so relaxing being away from everything and enjoying each others company without having anything to worry about.

Number Two
Mini Büro Box
Mini Büro Box – It may only be a small thing (literally) but it made my day when my husband brought me this back from his business trip. I love stationary and it was a thoughtful gesture which I really appreciated.

Number Three
Easter Decorations
Easter Decorations – I put up our Easter decorations this week and I just love how colourful they are. They’ve really brightened up the house and make me smile each time I see them.

K is for Kate Bush

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Kate Bush

Song: Wuthering Heights

Album: The Whole Story

Kate Bush seems to have a voice people either love or hate, I personally think it’s wonderfully unique. Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite novels so the instant I heard this song I was captivated by it, I think it fits the tone of the story beautifully.

I think Kate’s lyrics are magical and songs like ‘Running Up That Hill’ really resonate with me. ‘December Will Be Magic’ is also my favourite Christmas song and I look forward to hearing it every year!

I would love to see her perform live, but I think that will be unlikely… the last tour sold out in 15 minutes and they were incredibly expensive which is a great shame, but who knows… “I don’t know when, but just saying it could even make it happen”

J is for Justin Timberlake

Artist: Justin Timberlake

Song: Lovestoned

Album: The 20/20 Experience

Watched Perform: 2014

I was never much of an *NSYNC fan and I didn’t really pay any attention to Justin until he collaborated with Duran Duran’s on their Red Carpet Massacre album… so I listened to his solo work and found I really liked it!

My mum is a big fan of JT and got us tickets to see him in Manchester. The show was so good that we ended up going to watch it again in London! Justin is a great entertainer and I love his sketches on Saturday Night Live.

I is for INXS

Artist: INXS

Song: Never Tear Us Apart

Album: Kick

I like several songs by INXS, including ‘Need You Tonight’ which is a great tune, but I love ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ the most. I think the intro is beautiful and the saxophone solo gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it.

H is for Hall & Oates

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Hall & Oates

Song: I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)

Album: Private Eyes

Watched Perform: 2014

Daryl Hall & John Oates are one of my favourite musical duos and it had always been a goal of mine to see them live… something I never thought would happen, but finally in 2014 they announced they would be coming to the UK and it was a dream come true!

If I hadn’t already made it obvious with my previous posts, I absolutely love the 80s and the music of Hall & Oates is a quintessential example of that era. Listening to them brings back some great memories for me.

My husband and I chose ‘You Make My Dreams’ as the recessional song at our wedding, which was so much fun to walk back down the aisle to! Our favourite song is actually ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’ but we didn’t think that would be very appropriate!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 9th April 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster and hosted by Emily at Nerd in the Brain.

If we were having coffee today, you would be joining my husband and I in the the beer garden of our local pub. The weather is beautiful today so we’re taking full advantage of the sunshine and spending as much time outdoors as possible. As it’s so hot today, we’ve decided to swap the coffee for a refreshing fruit cider… what would you like?

We’ve had a wonderful weekend, yesterday we went to Llangollen and had a lovely lunch at The Corn Mill followed by a trip on one of the horse drawn canal boats. Later on we walked along the World Heritage Pontcysyllte Aqueduct before heading to our hotel in Llanarmon. The room we had was absolutely gorgeous and the food was fantastic. We ended the evening with a moonlit walk through the countryside, it was so quiet and the stars were so bright… I could have watched the sky for hours.

Have you had a good week? I feel like I’ve spent most of mine continuously writing! The A to Z challenge is going well though, I’ve managed to keep up with all of my entries so far. I always find music to be a very personal thing so they can sometimes be hard for me to write but hopefully people are enjoying my choices.

Thank you for joining me for this Coffee Share, I hope you have a great week ahead. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up.

G is for George Michael

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: George Michael

Song: Cowboys and Angels

Album: Older

Watched Perform: 2006, 2012

As I expressed in my post on Boxing Day last year, I am heartbroken over the untimely death of George Michael. He truly was a phenomenal singer and as I’ve said before, he sounded even better live than on a studio album which is a rare thing these days.

I’m so glad I had the privilege to watch him perform when I did, those memories are something I will treasure even more than before. I’ve been a fan of George ever since I can remember, and his songs have been a huge part of my life.

I love all of his songs, from soulful tracks like ‘Jesus to a Child’ to the fantastic dance tunes of ‘Too Funky’ but my favourite song is ‘Cowboys and Angels’, particularly for the lyric “Please be stronger than your past, the future may still give you a chance” which reminds me to keep going when times are tough.

F is for Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons

Song: Can’t Take My Eyes Off You

Album: Jersey Beat

Watched Perform: 2012

I cannot help but get up and dance whenever I hear a Four Seasons song, they’re just fantastic! I’ve seen Jersey Boys more times than I can count and managed to see the real deal in 2012. Several of my favourite artists have covered a Frankie song, which makes me love them even more.

As much as I love ‘December, 1963 (Oh What a Night!)’ and ‘Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye)’ my favourite has to be ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ as it was a childhood dream come true dancing to it at my wedding with my husband.
