Z is for ZZ Top

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: ZZ Top

Song: Gimme All Your Lovin’

Album: Eliminator

ZZ Top have some epic riffs in their songs, especially ‘Gimme All Your Lovin” which is a fantastic tune! I also love ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ for the same reason. I would love to see them in concert some day!

Y is for The Yardbirds

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: The Yardbirds

Song:  Too Much Monkey Business

Album: Five Live Yardbirds

My introduction to The Yardbirds was through my love of Eric Clapton, who started out in the band in ’63. Out of all the versions of ‘Too Much Monkey Business’, this one is my favourite due to Eric’s performance. I also like ‘For Your Love’ despite it being the cause of his departure from the band.

What’s In The Box? Shaun the Sheep Mini Marshmallow Cake Kit Review

It’s been a while since I’ve used a cake kit, but I couldn’t resist trying these cute ‘Shaun the Sheep’ marshmallow cupcakes!

Brand: Green’s (Product Details)
Makes: 12 Cupcakes
What You Get: Cardboard Background, Vanilla Cake Mix, Vanilla Icing Mix, Marshmallows, Waferettes, Cupcake Cases
What You Need: 1 Medium Egg, Cold Water

First pre-heat your oven to 185°C (160°C for a fan oven) and arrange the 12 cupcake cases on a baking tray. Then whisk the vanilla cake mix, egg and 35ml of cold water together for 2 minutes until you have a smooth mixture.

Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases in equal amounts and bake in the centre of your oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Leave to cool on a wire rack.

Once the cakes are cool, mix the Vanilla Icing powder with 10ml* of cold water until it forms a spreadable paste. Cover the top of each cupcake with the icing and sprinkle marshmallows over the top. Then add a waferette to each cupcake using some icing to secure it.

*I found I needed to use about 30ml to make my icing spreadable enough. Make sure you add the extra water very gradually… you don’t want to make it too runny!

Finally cut out the picture from the back of the box to make your background and you’re all done!

These cakes were quick and easy to make, tasted lovely and the sponge was nice and fluffy. The kit came with more than enough marshmallows to cover the cakes (I had about half a bag left over) but the cardboard background was far too small to really add anything to the cake display. Overall I would give this kit 4/5

Artist: Xavier Rudd

Song: Follow The Sun

Album: Spirit Bird

I only know a few of Xavier’s songs, but they’re really nice to chill out and relax to, especially whilst I’m sewing. ‘Follow The Sun’ and ‘Spirit Bird’ are my current favourites, if anyone has any recommendations I’d love to hear them!

#ThreeThingsThursday – What made me smile this week…

Welcome to this week’s Three Things Thursday post, hosted by Nerd in the Brain. Share your happy by posting three things (big or small) that have made you smile this week and join the fun!

Number One

3TT1.27.04.17

Natalie Vaseline Tin – I collect the Lip Therapy tins and as far as I’m aware I have every edition so far… being able to add a personalised tin to my collection really made my day!

Number Two

3TT2.27.04.17.jpg

George’s Marmalade – I brought back this jar of delicious marmalade from my recent visit to Dalemain Mansion, which is home of the Marmalade Awards. It’s been a wonderful addition to breakfast this week!

Number Three

3TT3.27.04.17.jpg

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining – I spotted this cute little sign in a sale the other day and just had to have it! It’s a nice reminder to stay positive, also the rain drops remind me of the music notes from The Clangers, which I love.

W is for Wham!

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Wham!

Song: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Album: Make It Big

I’m sure my choice for W will come as no surprise, my love for George Michael started with Wham! and they have remained one of my favourite bands ever since. There’s not a song that I don’t like, but my particular favourites are ‘Club Tropicana’, ‘Everything She Wants’ and the iconic ‘Careless Whisper’ as well as one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time ‘Last Christmas’. I’ve chosen ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ as my favourite however, as it’s just pure upbeat pop which I love.

V is for Village People

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Village People

Song: Y.M.C.A.

Album: Go West

I absolutely love Disco and all the cheesiness that comes with it, and if there’s one group that does that perfectly it’s the Village People. Every time I’ve been to a party or concert and Y.M.C.A. starts playing, people go crazy and just love doing the actions!

‘In The Navy’ and ‘Macho Man’ are another two favourites of mine, they’re just so entertaining and never fail to get everyone dancing… it’s impossible to resist joining in when everyone is singing along!

U is for Ultravox

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Ultravox

Song: Vienna

Album: Vienna

I have to admit that I don’t know Ultravox very well, but I really love the songs that I do know. The first is ‘Vienna’ which is probably what they’re most known for, and the second is ‘Dancing With Tears In My Eyes’, both of which are classic 80s tunes!

T is for Take That

This Blog is taking part in the April 2017 A to Z Challenge. Don’t forget to check out the other Blogs taking part by following #AtoZChallenge on Twitter and Facebook!

Artist: Take That

Song: Rule The World

Album: Everything Changes & Progress

Watched Perform: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015

I first became aware of Take That in 1992, when they released a cover of Barry Manilow’s ‘Could It Be Magic‘ and from that moment I fell in love! I watched all of their TV appearances, bought all of the merchandise (posters, bedding, dolls, perfume… you name it, I had it!) and at least once a week my best friend would come over and watch their concerts with me. These days I just collect the singles and albums, which I’m sure my husband is very thankful for!

When they broke up in 1996, I continued to follow Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen’s solo careers, always wishing that one day that would reunite. As the years went by and Robbie became more and more successful and the others faded into the background I accepted that it would probably never happen… until one day in 2006 they announced they were getting back together (minus Robbie), I was absolutely ecstatic!

I used to run a successful fansite for Gary until he finally got his own official website and during that time I was able to meet Gary and the rest of the guys several times. Take That were always hugely successful here in the UK back in the 90’s, but since coming back that popularity has absolutely sky-rocketed and their tickets sell out in minutes… luckily I’ve not missed a tour yet! I’ve also seen the unofficial musical ‘Never Forget‘ several times and have tickets to see the official musical ‘The Band‘ next year, which I’m looking forward to.

Robbie finally rejoined the band in 2010 and it was an absolute dream come true for me to see all of them performing together again. I have two favourite albums, the first is ‘Everything Changes’ from the 90’s era and the second is ‘Progress’ from the new era, they’re both wildly different but fantastic in their own way. My favourite song changes from week to week, but at the moment it’s ‘Rule The World’ from the film ‘Stardust’.

#WeekendCoffeeShare: If We Were Having Coffee on 23rd April 2017

Thanks for joining me for this Weekend Coffee Share, created by Diana at Part Time Monster and hosted by Emily at Nerd in the Brain.

If we were having coffee today, you would be joining my husband and I at the lovely Dalemain Mansion. We’re taking part in Drive it Day today and have met up with the other participants at the stately home which is famous for it’s marmalade. You really must try some before you leave, it’s delicious!

How has your week been? I have been working on a few craft projects, including some postage stamp découpage. I’m undecided as to which varnish to use however, do you have any suggestions? Something that brings out the vibrant colours of the stamps would be ideal.

The rest of my week has been spent writing as I was determined to have all my A to Z posts scheduled by the end of Friday. Now that I don’t have to worry about those (all that’s left is the reflection post) I can concentrate on visiting everyone’s blogs and commenting. I have to admit I’ve found it much harder to keep track of who I’ve visited this year without the Linky List.

Thank you for joining me for this Coffee Share, I hope you enjoyed your marmalade! I hope you have a great week ahead. Don’t forget to visit my fellow bloggers for a cuppa and a catch up.
